Privacy Notice Policy
At Holmes Mackillop, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our clients, visitors to our website and subscribers to our newsletter. This Privacy Notice sets out how we handle your data in accordance with our obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Here you'll find information on how we treat data which we collect from clients who are instructing us to provide a legal service, visitors to our website, or someone subscribing to our newsletter. Personal data is held on a secure computer database, stored on a server located within our offices and access is password protected. We do not share any personal data we have collected with any other third party other than information that is required to fulfil our contract with you. You have the right to request that we delete or remove any data we hold for you. Provided there is no legitimate reason for us to continue to hold your data, we will comply with any such request.

Provision of Legal Services
We are required to collect certain personal data in order to provide the service requested of us, and to comply with the requirements of our regulatory body, the Law Society of Scotland. This may include name, address, date of birth, pay and financial details, tax and national insurance status, telephone number, email address, marital status and nationality. We will hold this information for a minimum term of 6 years from the end of our business relationship with you, or whenever we are no longer required to hold it.

Newsletter Sign-Up
As part of the registration process for our regular e-newsletter, we collect personal information. We use that information for a few reasons: to tell you about subjects we think you might find useful or that you've asked us to tell you about, to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information or to check our records are correct and to check every now and then that you're happy and satisfied. We do not rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use a third party provider, Campaign Monitor, to deliver our newsletter. We gather geographical statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.

When someone visits www.holmesmackillop.co.uk we do not collect any information regarding visitor behaviour patterns. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
